An emerging designer/maker/artist with Slovakian background, currently living in Scotland, graduated from Woodwork and Design at School of Applied Art Bratislava in 2016 and BA(Hons) Three-dimensional Design at Robert Gordon University Aberdeen in 2020 giving him vast opportunities to gain skills in many areas within art and design.

Since young age, Kristian was immersed in creative setting, which impacted his focus and direction greatly. He developed an affection towards traditional craft, modernist and avant-garde movements of the 20th Century, black and white photography, but modern technologies as well, all formulating his interdisciplinary approach. His placement at the Northshore Pottery provided him with invaluable experience in ceramics and exposed him to a very tranquil and rural setting making him examine our society.

Despite functional objects represent his foundation, his passion is turning towards criticality, ergo questioning meaning of objects, space, and the relationships they have with subjects. Furthermore, he is deeply interested in value-creation and the way objects are assigned a value. Principally, he wants to make people think of their surroundings, habits and human existence and explore all the possibilities.

Material choice is mostly guided by the nature of each project; however, Kristian prefers to work with natural materials, predominantly with wood and clay. In the future he wishes to explore and experiment with more natural materials, not only to improve and broaden his knowledge and experience, but also to keep his practice as responsible towards the environment as possible.
