Growing materials #1

As I would like to investigate other ways of sourcing materials, one of the "alternative" ways is to grow it. Even though, in this project they do not directly grow the material, it is a great example of re-using and up-cycling a waste product. In this case it were the hemp matts used to grow vegetables which were afterwards used to grow mushrooms. Once the mushrooms were harvested, the matt can be used again, but this time as a material to create simple products (in this case a small basket). Naturally, there are limitations in terms of application, however this project is not looking at replacing all other materials, it acts as a more environmentally friendly and circular option for simple objects.
